As a parent, you might get worried if your child’s teeth are losing their white sparkle or becoming dull. Healthy and shiny teeth are essential when it comes to young children. Children with yellow or dull teeth may feel insecure and avoid interacting with other kids. It affects their growth as well as mental health.

Taking care of your child’s teeth should start at an early age. However, for some reason, if you fail to do so, do not worry. You still have time. There are several natural and safe ways to combat the problem. There are many teeth whitening products available in the market, too, but overdoing them can be harmful. Visit a facility for pediatric dentistry in Fullerton today.

Natural ways to safely whiten your child’s teeth.

    • Brush your child’s teeth with baking soda.

Baking soda is clinically proven to whiten teeth. This is why most of the toothpaste brands contain baking soda in them. It is abrasive in nature. Therefore, it easily removes teeth stains by scrubbing them away. Its alkaline nature helps stop bacteria production in your mouth.

    • Use a whitening toothpaste.

Using a whitening toothpaste is a simple and effective way to whiten your child’s teeth. It removes stains from the surface of the teeth, giving them a natural and clean look. Choose a whitening toothpaste made especially for children. It is a safer way to whiten your child’s teeth naturally.

    • Avoid sugary and acidic foods.

If you are concerned about your kid’s teeth, do not allow them to eat or drink sugary and acidic food items. They greatly contribute to tooth disease and staining. Avoiding such items will protect your child’s enamel and keep the teeth white. It is beneficial for their long-term dental health.

    • Whitening strips.

This option is only suitable if your child has developed all the adult teeth. Children around the age of 12-13 years should avoid using these strips. Whitening strips contain hydrogen peroxide. It cleans the surface of the enamel and penetrates through it to reach the dentine layer. However, children may experience some teeth sensitivity and oral irritation.

    • Eat fruits and veggies.

Children who love eating fresh vegetables and fruits can easily get rid of yellow teeth. Incorporate more of these healthy items into your child’s everyday diet. This will ensure they have healthy and strong teeth as well, along with a bright smile. Chewing these veggies can help remove plaque and stains, too. Dentists recommend strawberries and pineapple, which are many kids’ favorites.
